There is now an educational program that addresses these essential skills for healthcare providers. It is available through the
Center for Learning and Professional Development at Dartmouth Health. The course consists of four self-paced, self-directed online modules, each of which may be completed in 20 to 30 minutes at the convenience of the course taker. Two hours of free continuing medical education credits (CME) are awarded upon completion of the four modules, which can be applied to the CME credits that are required for an initial license application or for license renewal. (A similar course with continuing nursing education -CNE- credits will be released soon.)
This course is specific to New Hampshire, which makes it especially important for providers who trained or practiced in other states where the resources for families and providers and the child protection systems were different.
Regular updates will be posted to the course as medical science evolves, resources change, and systems adapt to new circumstances.
